Etonnant ! Et oui, personne ne l’avait vu venir… Canon a annoncé « Photo Culling » ; un Plug-in pour Lightroom chargé de vous assister dans vos sélections.
Ce qui en dit long sur le place incontournable qu’occupe Lightroom dans le secteur photo et dans le coeur des photographes. On suivra bien entendu l’actualité de ce nouvel outil, lorsqu’il sera possible de l’essayer. Car pour le moment il est encore en beta.
Canon ne donne pas beaucoup d’infos : « Canon offers a photo culling plug-in for Adobe Lightroom Classic that uses technical models to analyze image for sharpness, noise, exposure, contrast, closed eyes, red eyes, and dynamic range. Service currently in beta testing. »

Image Connect
Image Connect is a new photographer matching service, offered through the RAISE photo community platform, that connects customers with professional photographers so that the customer can focus on the moment while the photographer captures it. The beta version of the service will be available in a limited number of markets in Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Image Connect will initially focus on family events like newborn portraits, birthday parties, family portraits, religious events, and engagements.
Here is how Image Connect will work:
- Through the platform, customers can provide basic details for the job, such as event type, location, and date
- Once photographers are matched with the customer through the platform, customers review photographer profiles and invite those they like to bid on the job
- Photographers create an offer which allows them to set their own price (rather than adhering to standardized pricing) and allows them to communicate their rates and value to customers
- Once an offer is accepted, the job is booked through the platform
- Following the event, images are delivered electronically to the customers through a Canon customer portal
This service will also be brand agnostic, opening up the portal for all photographers to use no matter the brand of equipment.
Photo Culling Plug-in
Powered by the Canon Computer Vision AI engine, the new Photo Culling Plugin for Adobe Lightroom Classic can save photographers countless hours in post-production by using technical models to cull for image sharpness, noise, exposure, contrast, closed eyes, and red eyes. Analyzed images will be flagged with different coloured flags to remain true to the native Adobe Lightroom Classic experience*. The photographer also has the ability to customize the settings within each technical model to remain in complete control. The Photo Culling plug-in will be available exclusively on the Adobe Exchange App Marketplace for a monthly subscription.
Both services are currently scheduled to be available in Q1 2020.

Ç’est peut être le truc que j’attends depuis 5 ans, selectionner les images les plus nettes parmi une serie (flou de focus ou de bougé)

Une option plus ergonomique encore serait de s’inspirer de live photo des iPhones : à chaque rafale, les photos sont réunies en une seule image animée, et on peut choisir quelle image est la bonne (voire plusieurs). Ce genre de fusion serait vraiment majeur comme innovation en photo de sport.
C’est incompréhensible que ce ne soit pas le cas depuis des années, on se demande se qu’il foutent chez adobe
Cela existe quasiment dans Lightroom :
On peut grouper automatiquement en « piles », toutes les photos séparées par un espace temporel (à déterminer).
Ce qui permet de regrouper des rafales en piles. A l’utilisateur de placer la meilleure photo au sommet de la pile.
C’est fait automatiquement ? Avec un traitement groupé par défaut ? Et la possibilité d’afficher de manière fluide les images les unes à la suite des autres ?
(Parce que c’est ce qui rend Live photo aussi agréable : c’est fluide, sans effort, rapide.)
C’est groupé automatiquement, si tu demande que ce soit groupé…
L’affichage est très rapide, si tu crée les aperçus à l’avance bien entendu.
Mais il n’y a pas d’affichage rapide en petit par exemple (style roll over, comme pour les vidéo dans la grille de Lightroom qui défilent lorsque l’on survole avec la souris, si tu pense à cela).
Je suis très curieux de savoir ce qu’il y a dans ce Plug-in !
Ça se rapproche beaucoup de l’application de tri d’images sur laquelle Excire travaille depuis pas loin de deux ans maintenant.
